I kept thinking about those afflicted with Alzheimer’s and how an interesting love story can be fashioned around someone who keeps forgetting that they love. Keaulana and Michelle Lee are playing as the star cast in this movie. Lucy’s condition can certainly be played for comedy, but the approach in 50 First Dates leans towards the heartbreak of dealing with such a mental illness. It has such a great story idea, one which is so interesting and unique and it was pulled off really well. 50 First Dates is a great mix of comedy and romance, which made me laugh and tear up every time.
